Christian books can help you teach about your faith. I feel that it is important to read during language arts. After a child can read by himself he need to develop fluency and comprehension.
My children liked to read out of fiction books instead of readers. So to teach comprehension I had to read a chapter or two a head. I then asked questions based on what they were reading.
Sometime I would require my children to write a book report for language arts. Since we did not use workbooks I needed some way to know that they understood the book.

My favorites christian books are based on the Bible or are biographies of real people.
