I like to plan some homeschool ideas for summer so the children will not forget what they have learned. Because My children struggle with learning they need fun ways to practice. If I do not have some activities planned my children complain that they are bored.
In the summer we like to be outside. One of my ideas for homeschooling is to grow a large garden. The children help with planting, weeding, and harvesting.
Gardening is our science for the summer. The children learn that crops fail because of the weather. Sometimes the weather is too wet and cold to grow tomatoes, peppers, and green beans. The children also learn that gardening takes time.
I also like my children to keep up with their math. I do not teach anything new, but have my children practice what they have learned. I have them play math games on the computer. The games help my children not to forget their math facts. The games are fun. We also try to play some board games like Yatzee.
I have a harder time trying to get my children to practice their writing. My idea is to have them keep a journal of their summer activities. They can write about our vacation and what they did at camp.
We also read a lot during the summer. My children love to read so we go to the library every week. They like to participate in the library's reading program.
I also like to read to my children during the summer. I usually read historical fiction to them. We discuss the time period that I am reading about.
Homeschool ideas for summer should be fun and flexible. Children should have plenty of time outside in the sunshine. They should also have opportunity to play with their friends.
